A full house in Bassano
Launch of Una vita dal vivo · 9 October 2026
Launch night · Libreria Palazzo Roberti, 9 October 2026
Libreria Palazzo Roberti filled up on Friday evening with friends, admirers, musicians and artists for the launch of Una vita dal vivo (Interno4 Edizioni), the book in which Carlo Casale looks back on fifty years of music, concerts and encounters in Italian rock. It was the second meeting of the Alta Fedeltà club, created by Francesco Nicolli and organised with Pick Up Records.
The conversation between Casale and journalist Filippo Bordignon was the heart of the evening. Bordignon opened by reading a passage from the book about its author. In his words, the best way to describe Carlo is this:
“Carlo Casale, a thinking mind with the courage to formulate original thoughts, has shown over his fifty years of artistic life how you can make rock while coming, geographically, from that Veneto (…) A man who has understood the necessary complexities of progress, and who has expanded his mind toward the infinite distances of music (…) the dissonant forms of punk and post-punk; who has understood the value of the constant beat, giving new flavours to club electronics.”
Then Casale spoke and the room listened. The talk moved between anecdotes, tour stories and memories from backstage. He went back to 1977, to the Outkids, to 1980 and the day he founded Frigidaire Tango with Stefano Dal Col. He told it plainly, and the audience followed, attentive and complicit, with laughter and applause.
Among those present were Stefano Dal Col, founder of Frigidaire Tango, and the band’s historic rhythm section, Maurizio Battistella (JM Le Baptiste) on drums and Diego Negrello on bass, along with other important musicians and artists from the scene.
When the talk ended, Casale signed copies of the book and records. Several collectors brought original Frigidaire Tango LPs for him to sign. One guest even brought an original ticket from the band’s first concert. Casale was visibly moved.
The night went on at Pick Up Records, where guests raised a glass, listened to Modern Vintage Wave and caught up with friends.
